So originally, I had a person to interview and things were going great, awesome even. However, the person of whom I was going to interview had to leave the country for some outside research and I couldn't conduct our interview. This is ok though, I was pretty excited to get a response at all, most other students never even got one back and I did. My interview-ee would not have gotten back in time in order to do our interview before writing this post, and I was unable to find any other people to interview. :( This is all good though, because now I know that I'm able to get an interview and I don't have to be scared about asking anymore. :)

The brainstem connects the cerebrum to the spinal cord. It is composed of the midbrain, medulla oblogata, and pons. The spinal cord and brainstem are communicate through the travel of signals between traveling motor and sensory neurons. Cranial nerves are also found here. The brainstem is responsible for motor signals sent from the brain and making sure they travel to the rest of the body. It also controls the life-supporting functions of the peripheral nervous system. The brainstem controls several body functions such as: arousal, breathing, blood pressure, digestion, alertness, heart rate, and it relays info b/n peripheral nerves and the spinal cord to other parts of the brain.
